What you need to know
Our standard Terms of Service apply to all services. Additionally, the following terms apply to VoIP services:
Analogue Telephone Adapter

An Analogue Telephone Adapter (ATA) is a device required to convert the digital signal to analogue so that you can use your existing telephone handset. DCSI offers an Obihai 100 VoIP ATA for $49.00 which is pre-configured for your service.

Emergencies

DCSI does not provide any service assurance on VoIP. It is important for you to understand that the service may not function if there is a power failure, your internet connection is unavailable or performing poorly, or there is a problem with any of the hardware. We recommend that you have an alternative communications service (such as a landline or mobile phone) available in case of emergency.

Plan Changes

Change your plan at any time without incurring any additional fees. Changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period.

Relocations

If you move house, all you need to do is let us know your new address so that we can update the Integrated Phone Number Database (IPND). This is a legal requirement and is vital so that emergency services can provide assistance – it is not the same as a public directory like the White Pages.

Informed Consent

For your first VoIP service with DCSI, we will need you to download and sign the Informed Consent for VoIP Services form, and return it to us before we can activate your service. Click here to download the form (PDF)

When we say "up to", the speeds being quoted are theoretical maximums. ADSL and ADSL2+ run as fast as your phone line can manage, but the speed degrades with phone line length, quality, and various other factors. Approximately 50% of ADSL2+ users achieve speeds of 10 mbps or more.

Porting

When your VoIP service is first activated, you will be assigned a temporary number. We strongly recommend that you test your VoIP service with the temporary number for a week or two and ensure you are satisfied with its performance prior to porting your landline number. Reverse portability – porting the VoIP number back to a standard landline – may incur a fee of up to $299, and in some cases may not be possible at all.

Unavailable for Calling

1222, 1234 and 1900 numbers are not able to be called using VOIP service
